How much should we trust Bo Nix ahead of Oregon’s biggest game yet?

Is Bo Nix really able to lead the Oregon Ducks to the College Football Playoff while staying in the Heisman conversation? We will know soon.

The mention of Bo Nix as a Heisman Dark Horse became a running joke during his time in Auburn. He showed flashes of grandeur for sure, but he always seemed to pair up with those with an itchy head from moments of failure.

When the Knicks opened his career in Oregon with an absolute hit at the hands of Georgia, the “Bo Knics Experience” seemed alive and well.

Nicks has spent the past two months changing the narrative. He has led the Ducks to eight straight wins, scoring 40 or more points in each of those wins. He threw 23 touchdowns with only five interceptions along the way.

Many are now seriously thinking, “Are the Knicks the actual contender for the Heisman Cup?” Others ask, “Did Knicks trick everyone into believing him again?”

How much confidence should college football fans have in the Knicks, especially when they take a big test against the 25th seed in Washington on Saturday?

Is Bo Nix real? Or will Washington expose Oregon QB?

The Knicks have truly played as well as any quarterback in college football since that disastrous game against Georgia and the No. 1 defense in the nation.

He answered a lot of questions against UCLA, throwing five touchdowns in a marquee match against the Pac-12 title contender.

However, the suspicion is fair enough. We’ve all seen a rollercoaster at Auburn and the UCLA defense isn’t exactly a juggernaut. They ranked 53 in the SP+ and 72 in the ESPN FPI.

In fact, the average rating of FBS defenses the Knicks have faced since the Georgia game is 79 in SP+ and 92 in FPI.

Those who think huskies are going to reveal the Knicks shouldn’t hold their breath though. Washington ranks 46th and 77th in those measures, respectively, on defense. They were retracted by Dorian Thompson-Robinson and UCLA. Knicks and Ducks have enough firepower to do the same.

The real tests for the Knicks will come in the final two games of the season when Oregon faces Utah and Oregon. These two teams are among the best defensive teams in the Pac-12.

Until then, the Knicks are hard to predict. Washington State, the Pac 12’s highest defense statistically, appears to be outdone, resulting in the selection of six destroyers in the second quarter of their meeting. Despite this blunder, the Knicks produced three touchdowns and threw for 428 yards while leading the Oregon State to win the comeback.

We’ve had two consecutive months of continued strong showings from Nix. Stumbling will now be out, not the norm for Duck QB. Bo Nix of Auburn made mistakes that cost his team victories. Bo Nix of Oregon makes up for them when they come.
